Wayne,

I will be arriving on site sometime around noon on Thursday. Maybe I'll see you there.

Bring your work gloves, Jeff. We'll probably need some help unloading. ;D

But wait... we have that great new fork lift to help unload.  Just put a pallet on the tail of the truck or on the forks and slide everything off onto it, than take the castings and couplers to theirs new temporary home to await construction of new cars...

I was originally planning to accompany Wayne to Maine, but a couple of things came up that I must attend to next week so I cannot.  However I will meet Wayne in Mount Union on Tuesday to help get loaded up as well as deliver the two 20" wheelsets which will be going along.   Also have the foundry patterns for the vacuum brakes that need to be returned as well.

Yep, so now I am desperately seeking a co-driver for this trip. Don't think I can do it all by myself. Anyone available in eastern PA, northern NJ or southern NY, please let me know. The other choice is to postpone until after the holidays, and the longer the stuff lays around in Mount Union, the greater the chance some of it may wander off. PM me asap, please.

If you can't find anyone, I'll postpone the caboose work and go along.  I thought you had someone else available for the trip.

Rick is in essence offering to postpone his own business activities to help me get this done, but I am still hopeful that someone from our group will be willing to step up and take his place so he can take care of his matters without delay.

Wish I could, but other obligations prevent me from assisting on this one.

Problem solved, domestic tranquility questioned.  Since no other volunteers stepped forward, my wife has agreed to travel to Maine with me to deliver the couplers, castings and wheels. She would much prefer to stay at home baking Christmas cookies. I now owe her big time.

Wayne,
Do you now need to take up baking? Coupler shaped cookies?

I have always been in charge of quality control during cookie baking, but I think I'll have additional responsibilities after this.

Wayne,

Of course if you could have your wife bake before you leave you could take the rejects to the First Class Dining Facilities at Chez Fred.  I am sure they would be enjoyed by all.

Not gonna happen, Bill. There are no rejects! She is attending training today for one of her volunteer activities, tomorrow we are driving to Virginia for a memorial service, and Monday we are traveling a couple of hours each way for lunch with an old friend who can no longer travel, Tuesday she's at another of her volunteer activities. No time for baking. That she has agreed to come along on this road trip is her donation to the WW&F cause.

Thanks, James. I've been watching the forecasts carefully, believe me. I won't be there until Thursday late morning, so by then I hope the roads are plowed.
