Work done on Saturday July 8:

* Car shop cleanup: the bays 2 and 3 shop floor is clean, now people are excavating ballast from it and redistributing it.  More of that happened today.  The dump tip car was filled with stone, and buckets were used to put other stone elsewhere.  The N-S boards between the two bays were cut in two, as the concrete will now hold the vertical timbers in place.  Those boards were then cut up for use on the Head Tide trail for bridges.
* Flatcar 118: The car was put on the turntable as Zack needed to get underneath with a long drill bit.  He put on the second buffer block but needs to have the coupler dropped to push it fully in place.
* Ice Cream Social: We had a decent weather day, and excellent turnout - I think our best turnout yet.  Having two trains helped with dropoff and pickup.
* Board meeting was held tonight.  As usual we solved all our problems.  ;)  Now we just need money to do it!

If ALL our problems are solved, then our Treasurer must already have the money!

The Brookville received new plugs today. It was in desperate need. Rowmow1 was repaired, ready for it's next run.

"Solved" in that we know what we need to do, but we need the funding for it!

Remember, money is NOT a problem.

The problem is LACK of money.

Rowmow 1 was deployed again today. Mowed the East side of the tracks from Alna Center to Albees crossing. Broke another clip. I have figured out the cause, and can not fix it. The Pitman Arm hits the top of the clip, putting added forces onto a bronze bushing, which then the clip fails as well as the bronze bushing. So, I am going to make a low profile clip, and cure the problem, I hope.

More work was done prepping the shop for the cement floor. A discovery was made today that may delay the floor by a week or so. But the job will be done right.

Anticipated work for weekend of Saturday July 15:

* Bay 2/3 clean up and remodeling prep
* Boxcar 67
* Mainline extension for Mountain ROW repair/culvert insertion (just 70 feet of track needed)
* Flatcar 118
* Mowing ROW
* Running trains
* Feeding people
* Giftshop & tour giving

The last three are ALWAYS tasks during the summer - but worthy of mention.

Culvert work is supposed to start this weekend, but I may delay it a week if the shop needs the excavator.

I'm just mindful of the deadline (as I'm sure you are) for completion of the work - the sooner we start, the less hurrying we have to do later.

Sept. 30th is the deadline. Lots to do between now and then but we will make it.

Excavator has been released by the shop crew, so it will head North Saturday. Also needed will be a flat car for the plastic pipe and hay I had delivered last week.

Great news. Pray for no rain. Should be Bizzzzy City.
Saturday's probable northbound, no-nonsense work train will be interesting...just-fixed flat 118 with pipe and hay bales, new hauler flat 1015 carrying Kubota, work crew caboose? What else? Extension track rail, ties, are already onsite.
Repair shop "worker bees" demo-ing, hammering, hauling, trains running.

Wish I wuz dere.  :D
