James...tell Mike to keep shop doors closed and windows blocked. Fettling is a class 10 felony in Maine, punishable by 6 months of forced listening to obscene rap music at full volume.  ;D
Oh, the inhumanity!

I may be down Thursday afternoon for more painting of track items to be replaced. Lots of track work to do, I am considering making a list to keep posted in the house of things that need to be done for track work.

Work done Friday, June 2nd -

* McBane charter - Members of the McBane family donated $2,100 towards the 21 Campaign a while back and today was their day to enjoy the railroad.  Family members arrived at 9:00 am and watched #9 being steamed up.  Later activities included riding the handcar and photographing the crew switching cars.  Two train rides were offered.  The morning trip was a passenger extra to ToM and after lunch was a freight run.  Most of them got cab rides and they had a great time.  It was nice hosting them and we appreciate their support of the museum.

* Coach #8 - The wall was repaired and painted in the corner where the bench seats were torn out.

* Shop - More clean up of bay 2 in preparation of the concrete floor work next month.

We also worked on cleaning and organizing bay 4 (long overdue), and started making some auxiliary components for the flanging machine which will greatly increase its abilities (and get us over a small hurdle).

Work done on Saturday June 3:

* Stone: About half of a flatcar of stone was delivered to about 90 feet of mainline near MP 7.  It would have been the whole flatcar but I had to get back to Sheepscot for a particular time.
* Car 1015: Mike got the last wheel set on, and after some more fettling rolled it outdoors.  After the last train it was moved to the West yard and the excavator was put on it.
* Earth works: Mike did some earth moving, dealing with the pile of gravel at the SE corner of the parking lot.  Its now much more level.
* Passenger train: Coach 8 got turned around yesterday, and was on the train today.  Diesel was turned halfway through the day.

There was probably a lot more going on but there was a lot I didn't see.

* Coach 8 - The side door skid plate was cleaned and primed to cover the bare metal since the car sits out on Saturday night.  Earlier, inside trim work was done so the rolling door would travel better.  Thanks to Bill Reidy the car got washed and cleaned off this morning.

* Boxcar #67 - More sorting of old iron parts brought the other door roller wheel which was installed back in the original roller.  This gives us one complete set to hang a door.  Zack measured the rollers and began work on the roller/track box on the west side of the car.

The MP 7 stone spreading has proceeded this week- although more will be needed.

If Joe has marked ties, ties could be distributed.

Tamper is still down.

See ya

Tues. and Weds. Three and a half loads of stone were put out. Some was put out just past Albee crossing heading almost to the culvert. Sat. we will put out one load more. We also put some more on the TOM West short track. Once that is tamped, One engine and car will be able to pull in there. We still have about 2 1/2 to three truckloads left at Alna Center. There are some places North of the Horse crossing that needs dressing also.

We currently have 40+ marked ties, and only 25 to replace them with. When laying out ties, please start from the South and work North. This way if ties further up don't get changed it is ok. But ties are needed the most between Janes Way & Sutters.

I will be down Friday evening to measure some joint bars to get them ready for distribution as needed. I will have separate lists of things to be done in the house, describing where needs what. Some tasks are pretty basic and simple but time consuming.
