Convention report: Sales this morning were brisk.  I attended the clinic put on by the Narrow Gauge Preservation Foundation's Charlie Getz, and thanked him for the Foundation's donation for Boxcar 67.  He had been there on Thursday and was pleased to find a sign on the boxcar that the NGPF had provided substantial donations to it.  The WW&F bus tour departed Civic Center Station at 8:10 with everyone aboard.

I plan on repairing the dozer in the morning, then maybe do a little grading at TOM.

Work done Friday, September 9th -

Day #7 of convention week.

* Turntable - More work was done on the cross timbers.

* Convention - The WW&F bus tour guests arrived around 1 pm and had a nice lunch in our dining hall in the Percival house cellar.  The group rode the train and many got a railcar ride as well.  We heard a number fo people tell us that the WW&F visit was the best part of the convention.  All week long, Kerry has been fixing nice meals for us, it's a big help having a great variety of food.

* Membership - Six new members were signed up today and two of those were life members.

Turntable work looks great.
What will be the sequence of completing and mounting it?
Will it be useable by FWW?
Fascinating, probably the only US turntable build in years.

Work done Saturday, September 10th -

Day 8 of convention week.

* Turntable - Much progress installing the cross timbers and the first work on the spider wheel ring rail.

* Convention - Many more visitors showed up to tour the shop, ride the train and stop in the gift shop.  We also had members of the Tech Model Railroad Club of MIT visit Sheepscot and they really liked the handcar!

* Boxcar 67 - Zack drilled tension rod holes in the side wall headers.

* TOM - Mike worked on a number of things which he can explain better. One thing you can see from the train, he did the first bit of grade work for the sawmill track.

* Garage - Josh wired up the new lights and outlets for all three bays and workbench area.  The new switches are to the left of the door as you enter.

* Schedule - Going back to the regular Saturday timetable was nice for the crews since we know it so well.

Convention report: Today was slow, it seemed like everyone was either overhung from a Friday night party or they were off doing something else.  Not much sold.  At the end of my clinic I helped John pack up and loaded everything into the car and delivered it to Sheepscot.

Now to enter all the sales from the week.  I think I am up to Tuesday.

I am glad it is over but it was a great week.  Everybody was appreciative of what we are doing.

It's entirely possible that we are now over 1100 members again.

I got the adjusting cylinder swapped out in about an hour and a half. Then started cleaning up the mess I had in the woods.
Finished that after lunch and spent about 45 minutes setting up, doing a rough layout, then leveled with the excavator. I levelled about 35 feet. Next weekend I plan on doing next to the tracks before trains start running, then add ditches.

This is a sign that Steve P. made for a brief description of the Turntable.

I spotted Steve P.'s turntable sign when our tour bus arrived Friday a little bit before 1 p.m., as I talked with some tour members about the turntable project.  Steve's information signs were a nice addition for convention week.
What–me worry?

Work done Sunday, September 11th -

Day #9, the final day of convention week.

* Turntable - Rick Sisson led a track crew that worked on the turntable track.  Jacking, lining, ballasting and tamping was done from the bay 4 switch down to the current EOT.  Work took most of the day except for the lunch break when a thunderstorm rolled through.

* Convention - Good crowds today, most were convention goers that were still wearing their convention badges.  Trains were full, the gift shop did well and more memberships were sold.  Two members renewed their international memberships and gave donations as well.

* Membership - New members signed up during the convention were around 24.

* Gift shop - Sales from September 1st thru today have topped $22,000.  Most of the sales were items bought by convention attendees.

If these are all new memberships, we have surpassed 1100 members!

Over 800 tickets in one form or another were sold in the last 9 days.

Thank you ALL for the hard work.
It sounds like there was a lot of satisfaction.
