Thanks Mike. I can't take full credit- it was Jason's idea to talk about the design! We'll have more posts like that in the future though looking at historic boiler making and machinery and comparing them to our methods and design.

I think an update is in order for the fundraising webpage.  Over 22K now raised !!!!  Plus some highly needed "thank you's" should go out to some VERY generous donors!

To elaborate on Mike's post - we have a number of people "behind the scenes" who handle "thank yous" and mailing out "perks". It's a big job to ensure this all gets done, but very important. Also, we are getting a lot of "offline" donations - which are great as they avoid the Fundrazr processing fees. However, they take extra work on our side to enter into the records, etc.

That said, anyone is free to "like" individual donations and updates on the Fundrazr page. More importantly is to "like" the campaign on Facebook and share it with your friends. Even if you can't make a donation, this will go a long way to promote the effort.

Thanks to everyone who have made this a successful campaign thus far! This is a long-term effort, and we are grateful for everyone's support.

Hi All,

The latest post regarding the WW&F 21 Campaign has been posted on Facebook. This post covers the initial boiler design for locomotives 10 and 11 (which has been completed). In other news, the 21 Campaign currently has over 300 followers on Facebook and has raised over $22,000 towards the construction of a new boiler for locomotive #10. The new boiler will cost approximately $50,400, so we are only $3,000 away from our halfway mark!

Check out the post here: https://www.facebook.com/wwandf21campaign/posts/392029070967699

Sincerely,

I was just looking at the Fundrazr web site, and then I checked here. It's been a month since any updates have been posted. We need to generate more momentum and enthusiasm if we are going to build a new boiler for No. 10, much less a second one for No. 11! We still haven't reached the halfway point for funds for No. 10's boiler, and we need No. 10 back in service. I will be sending a check out in the next day or two. How about you?

$130,000 divided by 1,000+ members = $130 divided 52 weeks = $2.50 which is one Starbucks coffee.  So, let's give up one coffee a week and send it to the fund. Might can come from many!

Trains Magazine's Newswire has an announcement today about the gift given to the WW&F's 21 Campaign by the estate of David MacDonald. It does require a subscription to view:

For WW&F fans who get most of their WW&F news through the forum the Museum is pleased to share that we have now exceeded 46,000 in the 21 Campaigns coffers. While the MacDonald estate made a significant contribution, the success we are realizing would not be possible without the support of the many individuals who have made a commitment to supporting the campaign. Thank you!

As a result, our board of directors voted to purchase boiler plate for both boilers at the same time. Number 10 will still be built first- but we will be prepared to move directly on to Number 11 when 10 is complete although we still have to raise the necessary funds to complete No. 11's boiler. The board voted to purchase the materials together citing savings on both the material and shipping costs when the sheet was purchased together.

Yet again we have exciting news regarding boiler construction. The details are below! Meanwhile, our fundraising efforts are progressing steadily with $46,756 in the bank.

To ensure we have money on hand for the work ahead of us, we invite our friends and followers to consider donating at: http://www.fundrazr.com/21campaign

On the September 22 our Master Mechanic Jason Lamontagne met with representatives from Boothbay Railway Village and the ASME inspector to review designs for the boilers for No. 10 and No. 11. Both designs were accepted paving the way for Boothbay's construction of the boilers!

Yesterday, September 26, Jason met with representatives from Mack Brothers Boiler and Sheet Iron Works in Syracuse, NY. Mack Brothers will be rolling the plate for both boilers. Now, nearly everything is in place to begin the construction of boilers for No. 10 and 11.

Your contribution today will ensure that Boothbay can begin assembly of No. 11's boiler as soon as No. 10's is complete! With 154 contributions of $21.00 each we will reach the $50,000 mark!

Does the total amount need to be in hand before materials can be purchased to begin construction of both boilers?
If so, could the projects take place simultaneously?
