Randy made door brackets for all the doors today so a set can go on.

No direct puns needed, its just how you frame your comments and keep them on the level.

Looking at the picture of Zack's work bench I wonder, did new (and I will get the terminology wrong) new end plate castings get put on the flat car truss rods?  Was this to take the sag out of the car and to keep the truss rod bolts from sinking into the end sills?

Zack is using car 126 for a work bench. Car 118 needs new end sills and has the truss rod washers sinking into the end sills. The oak for B&SR 67 is getting cut soon and we are going to get end sills for 118 cut at the same time.

I spent a good part of last year (two days a week) helping replace the end sill on an 1886-vintage standard gauge combine at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. The sill had cast iron cups into which the truss rod nuts were seated. In replacing the sill, we sistered an 8-inch channel to it and eliminated the cups. It's all invisible since it's covered by the sheathing on the end of the car. At the same time, we replaced the draft sills and the platform knees. The end sill and the two draft sills were fabricated from century-old white oak barn timbers, while the platform knees were new wood.

Zach has done a fantastic job on the doors. Looking forward to seeing more progress photos.

I realize this is jumping ahead a bit, but has any decision been made regarding what color(s) the carbarn will be painted?

Hot pink, or maybe mauve.

Why not chartreuse? I grew up next to a chartreuse house with maroon trim. I think it's only been painted a normal color the past 10-15 years.

I asked Start that question a couple of times, but he hasn't wanted to hear any of it, for some reason.   ::)

I may have phrased the question, "What color are you painting the car barn?"  He's led the painting work on the other Sheepscot railroad buildings.  Can't understand why he may want a break.
What–me worry?

Since the car barn is not a true reproduction of any former WW&F building needing an historicallly correct paint job, and is in the area of the new restrooms and garage, matching their gray walls/white trim would make for a uniform, attractive appearance.
