Mike,

I don't think we need to build anything, some of our more "artistic" painters could do a paint scheme to make it look like a detrucked boxcar or MOW car.

For some reason, "container" seems to be a dirty word in Sheepscot. I've advocated for one for several years now, receiving stony silence in return. And I'd hate for the new section house to be cluttered up with track materials. It's supposed to house tools and the handcars.

My recent sentiments exactly. Containers...20', 40', are rugged and very lockable, with the padlock area enclosed in a  hand-sized steel theft guard, no way to cut or hacksaw a lock. 8)
2926 has a half-dozen, used for storage, tools, machine shop work.
How about a trailer/lowboy 'transfer dock' at the end of the woods track, as have the Silverton Northern, C&TS? Was this not the original track purpose?

An excellent map, but can only print its left half. ?
Figured out how to change sizing, center the subject.
Never mind.

As far as I know, the container idea was presented to the board for approval. The board took it into consideration, but was assured with the new building we would be gaining space for storage. So for now, that idea was turned down.  But it is not a dead issue yet.  We really need to catch up with the storage, getting our precious items under cover. After these two buildings are finished, we will have a better idea how things will fit.

I'll try to make the case once again. At least in my opinion, a container would help reduce the clutter that seems to exist in every building we currently have. The car house should be utilized to house rolling stock. The shop should be used for restoration and construction of new rolling stock. Track tools and the handcars and other small rolling equipment should go in the Whitefield section house. The other stuff that we have accumulated, such as shop equipment we have no current use for, seasonal equipment like the propane heaters, items salvaged from the shingle mill currently in the garage, the spare Brookville engine and transmission, extra chain hoists, Halloween items currently upstairs, etc. etc. would best be stored out of sight and out of mind in a container. As long as a list was prepared of items stored therein, we'd know what we have. I can't make it any clearer than that!

The map is not optimized for printing. For that you would need to use an image editor to adjust the resolution, etc.

Thanks, Ed. On my Windows 7 Print Preview I discovered using  the Shrink To Fit feature, reducing the subject just enough until all of it  was included.
What'll they think of next?  ;D

I favor Wayne's container proposal. When I inspect journal boxes on the cars in the shop, all the junk in the way is a pain in the you-know-whatsis.

Today about 40' of roofing went on the east side.  It's a LOT of work lifting, setting and fastening the tin and clear panels.

Very nice, especially those sporty-looking skylight strips.
