Stewart;
I just read this on the NGDiscussion Group. I was going to post and label it "Jason's Nightmare" but you beat me to it. I think it will be good for the future of Edaville. Wonder if it will afffect Boothbay's annual visit.

Oh joy.

I was in that area yesterday and swung by Edaville on a whim. That news would explain the hugely expanded parking lot, the earth berms where the fence was, and other signs of construction at the main gate and on the grounds.

Is there any genuine Maine two-foot equipment left at Edaville? The SR&RL group's "away roster" page lists SR&RL coach 21 (ex F&M 2) as being still at Edaville, but their site isn't updated very often so I'm hoping this is old information. I haven't been back there myself in over 20 years.

If this pans out it's a real coup for Edaville.
Given their somewhat out of the way location, it was clear that it would take a major attraction to get year-round attendance up to sustainable numbers.
I know that Thomas is not universally loved, especially by the older generation of fans, but the show does expose new generations to trains and particularly to steam. Each show usually features a segment with video of heritage railway operation. I bet in a few years we'll be seeing more volunteers that show up because of Thomas.

I believe SR&RL Coach 21 is still at Edaville.

Isn't no. 21 the car that recently went to Boothbay in some sort of deal for the construction of the new steam locomotive for Edaville?

Oh that's a relief to hear! Boothbay will take good care of her.

Gordon,

They can show up because of Thomas, I just hope they don't expect to see him at Sheepscot. :)

As long as #10 doesn't get a blue paint job!

Anyone seen at the WW&F with a bucket of blue paint will be "tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on a rail." (We don't have any tar or feathers, but we have plenty of rails.)

Actually, I think Jason has some duck feathers.

Would creosote work for the tar?

Just remember that the interested next generation is coming from munchkins that follow a blue engine. ::) So if painting a loco blue for a day or two will increase the numbers which translate into dollars - never say never. ;D

I think that #10 will have a d.o.g. (dark olive green) boiler jacket before ever turning blue.

I'm still partial to Fred the Forney... suggected by Ed years ago.

I do like the olive green idea... Maybe brunswick green instead?

I can't take credit for "Fred The Forney"... that goes to Mark Edry:
