The original Tallulah Falls RR was a standard gauge short line that ran from Franklin, NC to Cornelia, GA. It carried forest products and manufactured goods, including carpeting from several plants around the town of Tallulah Falls. The railroad's main claim to fame was that it was used as the location for the 1950's Disney film "The Great Locomotive Chase." The movie used engines are other equipment from the B&O Museum, I believe. It finally bit the dust around 1961 as most of its business went away. At the end, it had a couple of 70-ton GE switchers.
