Edaville #11

My wife and I and her family were on our way to Wiscasset around noon today, when at the intersection of Rt 27 coming from Boothbay and Rt 1 I saw a trailer with a steam locomotive lettered for Edaville #11.  I only saw it for a few seconds, not long enough to tell you much of anything about it.  I can't tell if it was the Anne Elizabeth or a different locomotive.

Looks like Edaville has steam motive power for whatever Christmas trains they do.

Anne Elizabeth is #21. Rumor has it that Edaville was having a new steam locomotive built/rebuilt for their rejuvenated (but much truncated) operation. Perhaps you got a fleeting glimpse.

I'm not sure if this new locomotive will replace or augment the Anne Elizabeth.

This engine will augment #21. Also Edaville restored the old main line to Cranberry Lake Park. I rode on it last Friday. Brought back a lot of great memories.

That is a really cool looking little engine. Is it a conversion from one of the 30" gauge saddle tankers?

more of a kitbash. Edaville had Boothbay take both Porters and used parts from each to rebuild into this one. Supposed to be a good hauler

My compliments to Boothbay and Edaville, both. I never got to Edaville during it's heyday. I was up that way with my folks, sometime in the late 60s but they were closed on the day we stopped by.

Maybe now Boothbay can get back to their S.D. Warren engine (I hope).

I like the way this engine came out... But my favorite question of the day; what happened to the bits and pieces that went unused from the other engine?

Looking at No. 11, doesn't that boiler look a bit like the one on No. 10?

Glenn, as of Facebook she is scheduled to doublehead with 21 on the Polar Express trains tomorrow. Hopefully pics and/or video will be taken, I have a previous steam engagement in CT otherwise I would be there

Not my video but at least it shows the engine in operation. I can't stand the whistle, to shrill for my taste.

Fortunately whistles are easily changed out.

If they took two locos, 10 and 11, and made one loco out of them, shouldn't this be number 10.5?

I know you New Englanders are a hearty breed, but viewing this video from Virginia has me wondering if they plan on putting some glass in those big window holes.

She's a cute little bugger.  According to Conrad's book, her tractive power is close to that of a Portland or Monson #3.

Sounds like a Henshel whistle. It not as nice as a 5 or 6 chime, but does grow on you.
