Speaking of ghosts, I remember when the flanger was moved to Bridgton, there was an article about the ghost train of the B&SR still sounding its whistle. Does anyone know if that is still happening?

Hi Mark,

I distinctly recall the whistle everyone heard was purported to be that from B&SR #5.   I can't imagine what caused this weird and totally unexplained phenomenon.  Perhaps there is someone out there with more information.

Grins,
Glenn

I would imagine someone had a similar sounding whistle and was just fiddling with it out of boredom...

Up here in Jefferson I sometimes hook a three note Crosby chime whistle to my air compressor and give the neighbors a treat. I'm sure the folks nearby are wondering what the heck is going on!

Now Keith, I can't imagine ANYONE doing something like that ...

No, those present were certain it was #5's whistle ... but the rest is far too mysterious to even speculate upon ...

Just curious, how would anyone living know what #5's whistle sounded like? Wasn't she retired in 1927?

Perhaps the person reporting this was a poltergeist, or an allergist or something hard to spell like that!

Just sayin......

You're right, John.  It's all so confusticating. preternaturable, misplixiated, and mysterious ...

Another confusioning point.(I think that is the present tense of confusticating)

When it's said that a train is sounding it's whistle, is it checking the depth?

And do narrow gauge locos use a higher frequency to take soundings?
