Quechee Gorge VT 2ft RR and Woodstock RR (std gauge)

My employer thought I would like to see if telephone poles looked any different in Vermont and sent me on a road trip. In my travels today I found a two foot gauge railroad complete with miniature switch stands.

Good pics Brendan. Looks like someones private pike, rail is light. Wonder what it is or was used for.

Stewart its a loop of track around a tourist trap. The track to the left would be the main line and straight ahead went into the enginhouse. The windows were covered up no idea what's inside. There was a couple open park style coaches sitting on another siding. Doesn't look like anybody has a ride in awhile but some of the ties were marked with paint for replacement I guess. I just thought the little switch stands were funny.

Quechee Gorge, VT?

Looks like a "steam outline" CP Huntington (although I think that they may have had a live steam Crown at one time.)
FYI, Route 4 from White River Jct. to Woodstock is constructed in many places on the old ROW of the Woodstock Railroad. This includes the Quechee Gorge bridge. My great-grandfather was the Conductor for the Woodstock Railroad - and I still have his hat and a small collection of Woodstock RR memorabilia.

That would be the place. Ed I was pretty sure I saw an old railroad freight house in Woodstock but I couldn't figure out how the railroad got there.

Correct on both counts. When I was there in the mid 2000's, there was a CP Huntington and a derelict Crown on site but nothing was running.

The last I heard, the Woodstock RR engine house was still standing in Woodstock and listed for sale. Supposedly the turntable pit is also present.
And it can be yours for only $275,000...

The pictures in the real estate listing show a portion of the turntable pit. I don't see how people can pass up this opportunity to have an address of "1 Sewer Way" in a tony town like Woodstock

I must say that Woodstock RR enginehouse is unique and a frame structure nonetheless. Would be an interesting project if it could be disassembled and shipped to Alna. Make a great start for the carbarn.

Went to this location last year and the replica Huntington was running. Hauling the two car train around.
The bridge over the gorge was built by the railroad and still stands today as a testament of it's construction.

The Woodstock Railroad steel bridge at Quechee Gorge was actually the 3rd constructed by the railroad - replacing a trestle, then a wooden bridge. I have a couple of photos of its construction in 1911. The line was abandoned in 1933.
