  James,  Thanks for your quick reply.  Today received the latest news letter, greatly appreciated the pictures on the restrooms. The letter also noted the purchase of right-of-way land. Summer is just a great time for ice cream.

Mike and I happened upon an elderly gentleman today who felt the hike from the station platform was too far for his bad knees. He found a unique way to deal with his problem near the machine shop.

July's bill (which arrives in early August) will have the full effect of the new restrooms.  I second Stewart's plea!

Any word yet on the effect to July's electric bill?

Most users will have left a "deposit".

I like Clark's Trading Post restroom facilities, otherwise known as the River Bank. A sign in gold leaf on the front windows says, "Bring your deposits here", along with other not-so-subtle puns.

The restroom building is beautiful. The story didn't mention the type of lighting used inside and out but I hope the museum didn't go for old fashioned incandescent bulbs. I would hope that a motion sensor could be installed to cut usage to the time of actual use. We have this in the stairwells at the GE machine shop where I work. The hand dryers probably save more $$$ than paper towel dispensers.
On e again, this is beautiful!

The museum used to pay $120 per month for the Sheepscot spot a pot so as long as we stay under under that amount for monthly restroom expenses things are good.  It will take a while to track the costs of paper goods, soap and cleaning supplies so there won't be a good comparison for a while.  The other thing to remember is that the most recent electric bill includes running the air conditioner in the house which draws about 15 amps while the compressor is operating.

There are some nice LED bulbs that could replace the present conventional bulbs in the can lights, but they are still fairly expensive. I don't know if anyone has done a calculation of the break even point.
