Just to confuse matters, I will note that tube radio filaments often ran on 6.3 Volts AC, and plate voltages were 300 or more Volts DC.

Maybe we should have a 1930's Zenith or Atwater Kent radio set in the garage.  Fire it up and the vacuum tubes will warm the place up real nice.

Thanks to a few hours of sunlight this morning, much work was done on the exterior.  Fred began by shoveling a lot of snow away from the east side of the garage.  He then, along with others set up the staging so we could install he battens.  Double deck staging was required in the center to get the battens in the gable above the window.  Zack cut the required pieces for each batten which changed in length as we worked from back to front.  By lunch time the job was 3/4 done.  It was completed by 1:00 so we took the temporary work bench down, making more room between the work bay and center bay.  With that done, some of us were able to leave a little early to prepare for the next snow storm.

The crew included: Zack, Fred, Start, Bill R., Randy and Steve Z. (who went for a box of nails so we could finish the job).  The mobile Garage Rat, Mike worked on the backhoe on the tractor and then ran the machine, clearing snow piles around the campus.

It was a very productive day!

The garage got some cleaning yesterday, Presidents Day.  There are some spare battens which are stored in the back corner.  Other spare wood is up in the rafters along with a few extra steel shelf parts.  Speaking of parts, most of the Model A parts are now in the garage.  The Model T parts (for RC4) will stay on the shelf upstairs in the shop building.  The new flashlights and tape measure are above the work bench. Fred really likes the LED flashlights!  A good bit of dirt was cleaned out of the western bays and the place looks better.

Sunny and 50 today so all the garage doors were opened. 

* The tractor got a workout as Mike cleared snow from in front of Brendan's trailer.  The Rats then cleaned off the trailer's deck for possible use in the next couple of weeks.  The tractor then went to work hauling many cans and boxes of nails and screws from the shop to their new home in the garage.

* Interior - More clean up with electric cords and water hoses being hung on the wall.  More extra wood was put in the rafters until we need it for the car storage building.  A fire extinguisher was mounted next to the front door.

* Kubota - Mike worked on the exhaust system and hydraulic system, installing some new parts.  The machine was fired up and tested after the hydraulic work.

* Model AA Truck - The truck was backed out in the sun to make room setting the ladder to get overhead.  Once outside, we realized how dirty the truck was so it was pulled right up to the door where water from melting snow was running off the roof.  The truck was washed off with the water and then put back inside.

* Mitsubishi Tractor - The original rear mount plate was installed and the 3 point hitch (that held the backhoe) removed.  Zack fired it up and ran it over to the shop and back.

 Stewart,  As Brendan works into getting the water away from the area around the garage, is there any major work left on the garage?  Looking forward to having the basement project ready for use by summer or near completion.  Thanks for all the hard work .   Fred L. Kuhns

Mike Fox spent a good part of the day cutting a new ditch along the west side of the parking lot.  The ditch leads water away from the parking lot and garage area.  There has been a problem with water running down against the west side of the house and then right down the driveway between the house and restroom building causing erosion and putting mud in the drive.  The work Brendan started, and Mike continued is a help in controlling that water damage.  I think we still need better water/rain leaders but Mike can tell you more about it.   

Except for electric service and wiring, the garage is all set for now.  There is talk of adding a smaller bay on the west end but it may not happen for a while.
