I think we can plan for clearance Stewart. That is a great way to show what has been done.

Brendan and I spent today removing the motor. We reached a good stopping point, deciding what we needed for bearing size. The block is very clean. So I can now get things ordered and begin reassembly.

This looks like a 3-cylinder diesel in good shape.
Hope parts search and re-assembly go smoooooothly.

Yes Ira. One cracked liner. Brendan has the machine shop on standby to make a part for the puller he is going to make. But since we are in there and need to purchase all the gaskets, we will be replacing all liners, pistons, rings, etc.

We have been busy with Christmas and all, but have managed to get everything out but the liners. Once those are out and we press the new in, we can begin assembly.

Honestly, the sleeves are a new thing to me, but have been thinkinh about it and talking about it for 2 months, so I had a small plan.

This is a picture of the setup, 2nd version.

Jason found a Bridge washer for me to use as a pulling head. It actually worked better than I expected.

End result. All 3 new sleeves went in. Last one Dwight and I did in less than 5 minutes. Cylinders now need to be honed, as they are only semi finished.

Bravo!
Great work.
As usual.   :)
Looks like today's light snow came just at the right time for motor work, with MLK Day for more  TOM work.
Sometimes, things really do work out.
But please, no Kubota wheelies.  ;D

Well today I started honing the new sleeves today. I had gotten to the point that I had the machined grooves smoothed out then did some checking. I was at 3.1000, and needed to be at 3.4700. So, Jason suggested I call my engine guy. He said bring it to him because he had something that would do it quick. The block was loaded in the back of the Presidential Auto, and delivered to his shop. Assembly will begin as soon as I get it back.

Removed the boom from the excavator today. I need to replace some of the bushings to eliminate some play. The portable overhead crane came in extremely handy.
