Found this on youtube and thought the video was interesting. I didn't know about the boxcars converted to coaches or the flats being used as open air cars.

Wow, does that bring back memories. I first visited Edaville in 1958. Still looked much like this. I also took many 8mm movies down there, as well as VHS much later on.

We did an hour long video interview with Fred Richardson before he passed away. In it, he describes many interesting facts about the railroad, and of course the "Blount years" of which he was a major player.  Most fascinating was the story of the proposed "Cranberry Land U.S.A." park which Ocean Spray Corp. was considering developing around the railroad. It never happened, but the architectural drawings of it are amazing. Fred donated a complete set of those blueprints to the Walker Transportation Collection at the Beverly Historical Society in Beverly, Mass.
