John Hodgman on Hobos...

Is it history or "his" (John Hodgman's) story?

There is a little bit of fact in the video ... very little.  If you want to learn about the 1930's and the Great Depression this is not the piece to watch.  It's Hodgman's attempt at humor but mostly (IMHO) a waste of time.

Agreed.  I think I had intended to post this on rypn, but wound up posting it here instead.  I am also somewhat bothered by its lack of factual information and general lameness.  What bothers me most is that the actual history of the era is certainly more entertaining and at times, more humorous than this attempt at the same.

Isn't John Hodgman  a "correspondent" on The John Stewart Show? That's all I need to know. I only watched a little bit of it. I think it's all made up as a joke.

I've not found John Hodgman to be particularly witty. His humor escapes me, usually it's not very clever and is forced. He was the uncool Microsoft nerd in the Apple vs. Microsoft ads a few years ago.
John Oliver, on the other hand, has come up with some bits that seriously tickle me.
