This one is going to be the weirdest, silliest "WW&F Visits..." ever:
The WW&F has now appeared on the geek-culture podcast,
The Flopcast:
Grab a coffee and join us to discuss Saturday morning cartoons, Dr. Demento-style funny music, TV and movies of the 1970s and 1980s, comic books, conventions, chickens (?), and more...Yes, in my non-railroad life I was in a comedy music band, "The Sponge Awareness Foundation" with my long-time friend, Kevin, who weekly co-hosts this silly and geeky podcast. My name comes up during the show fairly often, usually when a train reference comes into the conversation, with the comment "Ed would know that". Well, for this week (and next week) I appear on the
Flopcast discussing the obscure (like a long-forgotten PBS series with one episode which features RDC Budd Cars in Peekskill, NY) to the the obscene (1979's
Supertrain). Somehow I end up delving into the worlds of American Flyer trains (thanks to
Davey and Goliath), what is a "Foamer" (illustrated by Sheldon Cooper on
The Big Bang Theory), the transition from the New Haven to Penn Central to MBTA/Amtrak, and the wonderful world of the narrow gauge (as totally wrongly portrayed in
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.)
Find me on
Flopcast episode 390 at:
http://flopcast.net/390.html(or wherever you get your podcasts.)
And yes, I really did wear my full WW&F conductor's uniform to record an audio-only podcast.

And if episode 390 isn't entertaining enough, the following week (episode 391, to be released on 11/3) you'll find me talking railroad safety (thanks to
Stand by Me), how a steam locomotive DOESN'T work (
Back to the Future part III), and a bevy of rail-enthusiast celebrities.
And of course, I plug the WW&F during both episodes, because that is all that really matters.
