Pictures of the work being done on the car shop extension, taken Sat. 11-29-08

Steve Zuppa, Leon Weeks, and Mike Fox take a breather before wrapping up for the day...

...but of course none of this would have been possible without Fred's roofing brackets!!

Did the entire east side get shingles?  And the west side looks like it has boards on it..
Right now (Sunday afternoon) looks like the snow is getting closer to Sheepscot, so just in time to keep the weather out.
The way the weather has been so far this season looks like we might have a snowy Christmas train again this year.

Stephen,  Thanks for the pictures, with winter weather on the way, the shingle crew may finish just in time to have the building in the dry.  Thanks Fred L. Kuhns

Great pictures Steve and great work guys.  Those pictures demonstrate what teamwork and dedication can do when matched up with a talented bunch of guys.  Wish I could have been there to help.

The entire East side got completely shingled Saturday. Stephen caught us withing the last few feet of the ridge. The Crew on Friday/Saturday managed to get the west side boarded up between the rain Friday and after the frost left the roof Saturday.
Weather co-operating, this Saturday, we should be shingling the West side. So bring a hammer and lets get it covered.

James,  The pictures taken on November 22, and placed on the main web site, plus the pictures taken this weekend really add to the weekly progress report.                       Fred L. Kuhns

Steve,  Thanks for posting the photos.  It's great to see the progress.  Yes, we are lucky to have such a talented crew.  (I wish I could have been there Saturday but I was chasing the NEC out of Palmer, we went as far north as Millers Falls).   The third photo shows that Josh R. has installed the new goose neck light by the door on the east side of the car shop.  The fixture was added to light the east side shop door, station platform, mainline and run around track.  This was necessary because the building extension will move the old front light over 30 feet south towards the road.   That reduced the amount of light the fixture would shed on the east side, station and south end of the platform.  The existing south light will be replaced with a new goose neck fixture matching the one just installed.  Both lights will work from the same photo cell unit which turns the lights on at dusk.  The new lights will match the classic style of the building while adding safety and security to the area.

Josh makes all this stuff look easy, doesn't he?! He wasn't quite finished when I took this picture, but you get the idea.

Steve, Thanks for the close up of the light.  Yep, Josh does great work - wait til you see the knob and tube electric service that's planned for AC station.  It'll be like a new electric installation in 1915.
