Thanks for the link.  It's good to see more of the scenes from that day.  Beautiful photographs!  You'll have to come back when engine 9 is back in steam and we are running on the mountain grade.

Terrific!
These pictures for me are the answer to 'why do we do this??' I think because each of us has that special place in our minds, visions made from old pictures, images of what was, and a place, as Dana said, where life was simpler and slower.
Never mind that it's mostly fantasy and life was never easy, especially in rural Maine: the most important thing is the ability of this vision to motivate us to make it real, to work hard and long so we can go back in time, and to get away from the unpredictable reality of today.
Thank you, John, for having the imagination and energy and skill to organize your historic charters, they give us all even more reason to continue to do this.
Now, let's make #9 come to life for the next one...

PS: I got a good chuckle out of picture #39.
