« on: May 08, 2011, 08:01:57 AM »
The road crew loaded a new toy for the museum up at an Atlantic port this morning for a 9:00 am departure to Maine. This message is being posted on the boat as we leave port.

I now know what it is but have to honor the attorney-client privilege. Would that I were paid for this silence.... Since Brendan and Ed have put all the effort in I will leave the telling of the surprise to them. I presume Ed got them through any speed traps.

I believe I know what we are taking delivery of.  A little present for the machine shop.  I'll say no more than that.

The "Ed" referred to is Ed G.

Well after five states, 835 road miles and about 40 miles on Long Island Sound there is a new horizontal mill at the shop.

Was MSN Maps somehow part of this process?

It's the "40 miles on Long Island Sound" that's throwing me.

This picture should answer the Long Island Sound question. The museum's machine is on the front of the trailer.

Indeed. It would also seem that the mileage given was round trip.

Who got the Bridgeport, and are there any smaller relatives available?

Ed G. got the Bridgeport for his Maine machine shop. It was his friend who donated the horizontal mill to the Museum and gifted or sold Ed the Bridgeport.
