La Trochita is known here as the "Old Patagonian Express" after the book by Paul Theroux. It is a 750mm (about 30") gauge line that runs through the high deserts of Patagonia in Argentina. Their Baldwin 2-8-2s were very closely based upon the design for SR&RL #23 and are exact in almost every dimension. In its way, it is what the Maine Two footers might have looked like if they had run in the San Luis Valley of Colorado.''
