July/Aug 2015 Newsletter is now available for download. It features great articles on #9's new "Russia Iron" jacket and the Shingle Mill.

Those who are museum members (and I have you listed as one, Paul) can access the Newsletters section of the forum from the main forum Home page. First, be sure that you are logged into the forum with your username and password. Then click on Home in the bar above, then click the Newsletters section. All issues from 1989 to present are available.

You can also click this link:

Anyone who is a member of the museum and cannot access the Newsletters, please let me know so that I can verify your membership on the forum and provide assistance logging in, etc.

Anyone who is NOT member of the museum and is reading this... please join us!

Ed...Thanks.
A great way to grasp the background of modern day re-development of WW&F and appreciate the dedicated, competent people who continue to add to its growth.
You Yankee guys and ladies are OK!
Look forward to every update note and photo.
If NM weren't so far, I'd be there.
Almost shouldn't have moved off Staten Island.   ;)

I made a Membership donation the first of this month;  Is there a waiting period before I will be able to access the Newsletters?

Terry, no waiting period per-se, however there's no automatic connection between the membership database and this forum; if someone becomes a member and wants to get access to the newsletter they should bug us, just like you did.  Likewise if you were a member and got dropped for non-payment of dues, and had access to this board, you're likely to have access for a long time to come!

I have changed your profile to give you membership.  You should be able to see the Newsletter section now.

Jan/Feb 2016 Newsletter is now available for download. It includes an excellent article by Steve Smith on journal boxes. I sure wish I had read it *before* helping to pack the journal boxes of #9's tender truck.

I thank Jason for correcting an error in my first draft regarding the shim. I thought its purpose was to provide an inexpensive wear surface. And thanks to John for converting my crude sketch into a clear drawing and improving the text.

Steve,

Thank you for writing the article and for taking care of the rolling stock every quarter.

Steve,
I found a worn in shim at the Top of the Mountain when I was digging 2 years ago. Grooves where the axle had worn into it because the shim either shifted or the brass broke.

(Fixed..auto correct turned shim to ship)

Well Mike, I guess the episode that caused that was one occasion where the shim WAS a wear surface.....but not for long! Train crew probably uttered a few naughty words.

On your next visit ask Stewart to see the pile of artifacts I dug up. Last I knew they were in the house, but he would know exactly where they are
