General Discussion / Tie Laying
« on: November 28, 2021, 04:22:23 PM »
I wonder if this could be adapted to 2 Foot?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOsva2rzLMk

The guy replacing the wood tie can't be in the US - there are not
2 supervisors watching.

Does not seem that it is an oak tie -- 3 strikes to drive home spike. :-)

Museum Discussion / 2 foot in Australia
« on: July 13, 2021, 01:10:12 AM »
Have not had a chance to watch yet but
Great Australian Railway Journeys (Kuranda to Townsville)
on PBS did a section on 2 foot Sugar Cane RR.

Don't know if it was national but will rebroadcast Saturday at 3PM local time in the
Minneapolis/St Paul area.

The little I saw he was in the cane field then took a cab ride. Will watch and report.

Production was not impressive but some basic information.
You might run it at 1.25% speed.
And of course you could go down the "Rabbit Hole".(Watch all the other posts by him)

General Discussion / 2 Foot Model Parts
« on: April 15, 2020, 01:02:01 PM »
In the Aug '61 Model Railroader -
pg 10 Trade Topics - lost wax frames for SR&RL2-4-4T #9 ($2.50 pair :D )
Plans were in the June '57 MR. Also in April '52
Moody's "Maine Two Footers" was mentioned.

Nov. '61 pg 18 On2 Observation Railing for Rangeley
Also for other cars and RRs - SR&RL, B&B, F&M & KC
($1.50 for set of 4  :D )

So 2' modeling was well represented in the 1960s.

They make ties almost as fast as Fred.

And lay track only a little faster than the WW&F crew.

As James P  said "Peppersass had an "incident"."

So? Was it cobbled back together as a "Display"?

A while back there was a discussion about playing period music around and on the
RR.

General Discussion / Gas Issues
« on: August 19, 2015, 03:19:19 PM »
Ed and all

Just a suggestion and it may be too far to go. And there may be a closer place to get some,
but if you can get non ethanol fuel for your trimmers they will give less trouble. For all small engines and antiques for
that matter . Especially engines that run infrequently. It is a proven fact that Ethanol Fuel lasts for less that a month.
Keep on hand only enough to last a month then burn any leftover in a road vehicle ( new computer controlled engines can better cope).

This is one list , though not complete, of places to buy real gas.

http://www.buyrealgas.com/Maine.html

Of course you guys knew this and I am ranting to the choir.
