I lied. Seen in my photo is the grating. It can be seen just above to running board of the T. Under the car frame.

And yes Steve. No more yard shattering booms. At least not from the plywood.

Some work has been ongoing in order to try and get the machine shop/bay 4 area cleaner and neater. I thought of a way to make it safer.

Before, after taking out what ever was in the machine shop, we had to flop down 3 sheets of plywood to cover the pit so one of us or our guests does not take a tumble. Not any more.

Today I completed the floor I started on a month and a half ago. Someone had welded up a Z pattern years ago for this and nothing more was done. I made more of them and sectioned them so one person could lift out sections and move them out of the way.

Between the rails, not seen in the photo, I used steel grating.

This is to improve safety in the shop, as well as appearance when nothing is in there. Looks better to see the boards than the 3 sheets of plywood.

Anytime anything is restored to operate is fantastic. Now that you guys have come this far, it should be easy to keep the enthusiasm and finish the project.

We can narrow it down a lot more than that. The exterior walls are up for the restrooms but the trusses are not on.

I have been working on the rail clamps recently. This is the last item I have to do prior to delivery back to the museum, which I will tentatively say is December 1.

I can then use the overhead crane in Bay 2 to put the boom back on and then hopefully get that painted. It may need to be stored in the Machine shop to keep the paint from freezing once it is painted. I had my workshop at a comfortable 54 degrees and the paint dried just fine.

The rail clamps are very interesting to work on. Simple idea, somewhat complicated arrangement.

The rail in the shipyard may be too heavy, or large, depending on which way you look at it. Most likely, if the rail has seen any service since the 1900's, it would be atleast 75#, guessing though it is 85#.

They had come so far on it too. Hopefully they will continue. I know there have been a lot of other priorities this year and a shortage of volunteers.

Clinkers look like lava rock when they cool down. Very well could be from dirty coal.

I also find that ladder fascinating. Made out of what looks like table legs. That must have been some table.

If the tank is the same size, the patch could be real easy.

Due to a scheduling conflict, there were only 3 that went North to Albion. 5 would have been a nice number though.

Thanks guys.

Daves seat is the brake pedal. He should be able to hold that down.

As promised, here are a few photos of the car.

For the most part, it is done. I have figured out the rail clamps, but have not installed them, or even drilled the holes to mount them yet. Maybe this week.

First. A reminder of what I hauled home.

Now, without further hesitation, here is WW&F Work Car #1010

Looks very different out of the shop. I had to unhook the garage door opener and push the door up a couple of inches to get it out.
