Ok. Lets get started.

First picture. I was surprised by the gravel. This will be a big change from years past, as I have left it if I could.

Next two photos. The first of 3 joint bars found today.

Then I look down and see this. What is it?

A cut off section of rail.

And the days work, 110 Fred feet.

And the days haul. 2 32# joint bars and one 56#

Hi Glen,

I had heard mention of this about 2 weeks ago but was not sure if or when. I was also told about 2 years ago they had to be moved anyway because they were under a High Voltage Transmission line and the power company wanted them moved.

Well they made it North, but as of 6pm last night when I left, they hadn't called for a return trip yet....

I was thinking KOFC but EOFC works. Actually EOBFC would be a good one for the day. It went as planned, well as I planned. I have been thinking about it since Brendan convinced me of it. Now that it has been done I can turn my thoughts to something else...stumping and ditching.

I will be down in the afternoon Saturday. We do not need to hurry on the ramp. I really want to secure the parts together before the excavator is loaded. And we have some oak ramps for the trailer I think will fit to span the two flats. I would like to be loaded and ready to move North for the following Saturday, the 28th.

Gordon,

They can show up because of Thomas, I just hope they don't expect to see him at Sheepscot. :)

That would help because I can't find it on twitter.

Assembled a ramp today. It just needs to be secured together. Another will be built at the north end for unloading.

Sorry Ira, missed part 2. No big stumps on the grade from TOM to 218 because it was used as a skidder road a couple of times from Fossils to 218.

The stumps at TOM will need to be removed first. Then the ditching can fill the holes and level the grade as Start said, also some of the ditching will be used to make the south switch a little more foot friendly. Plenty of ditching will need to be done on the east side because it is non existent. The ties from the siding were against the bank. West side ditch is in good shape, but needs to be cleared of a stump or two, re-ditched where the woods road compromised it, plus cleared of some wood we cut one winter North of the road. This junk wood can be hauled out onto the back lot out of sight to a RIP site (rot in place) that isn't so visible.

Ira, rough wheel measurement from end of track was just over 1000 feet. This is the first "washout" or missing trestle or something. Cattle underpass maybe. But a gap in the ROW. After that would be the slide, though I did not measure to that to know how far.

I am liking the sounds of the trip North.....

Well I would not say no to a challenge, but we could try it out on a tractor in the mean time. How's that?

Ted, See the Top of the Mountain thread under Work and Events for details. We plan on fall work and hopeful to get it in service during the spring work session.

John, we have 2 tractors that it would fit, and several places that it would be very useful, saving our labor for places we can't get to.
