Bob, The cross beams are bolted below the truss. When you look at a side view of the bridge you will see the cross beams are not located near the ends. That part of the bridge will be located over the abutments

On top of the cross beams are 3 sets of cross timbers, in the shape of a "X".

4 stringers are than put on the cross beams. A lot of cutting has to be done to fit the stingers over the cross timbers.

The 10 foot ties are than lied on the stringers

Prebles will stay where it is now located. Visitors for special events go to this Ticket window to get their boarding pass for the next train North. Track 1 (or A) at Sheepscott Station or Track 2 ( or B) beside the Car Barn.  The ticket agents do have heat, but not much with the window (upper half of the door) open all the time.

One short section (about 6 ties) of the woods track was skipped before the Woods Shed. ROW has a high spot. Clay needs to be dug out before stone is added to ROW

We have a few metal parts that can be reused. Some require work. But not a complete set of metal parts for one box car.

Fred wants to take 52 and a empty flatcar north. Stopping on the way to pick up the used ties that were removed this summer. These ties will be used as ground ties for more tie piles next year at saw mill spur.
There is one pile of ties that is not stacked correctly, plus a few loose ties laying on the ground and this will be corrected.

Plant in June. Harvest now.  About every town had a potato storage barn located near the railroad.

Hi Paul, I don't recall that we have any high mainline switch stands that you stand between the switch stand and the track. You stand to the side and move the stand handle away or towards the tracks.

MMMMM! we do have one or two very low yard switch's If they have a stand it only a few inches tall. Guess you could lean over and line the switch while standing near the tracks. These low switches are located in Sheepcot lower yard.

Resize the bridge. Only the two pony trusses have been built. To resize the bridge, new deck timbers etc. will be ordered with a length shorter than standard gauge size.
New deck will be 10 feet wide between Trusses.

Wed. July 25th. On my way to the museum from my home I passed the site of the original shingle mill.

The shingle mill building plus a small garage building used for storage have been torn down. I would say by hand, as all the tree's growing around both buildings were not disturbed. The old farm house is still standing.

On Thursday 27th in the North Yard two rails were bent with the museum hand powered screw rail bender. After the two rails were bent both joint bars were installed.
At the same turnout two switch points were set on the ties. We than put the slide plates  under the rails. Of course nothing go right, so a lot of little thing keep getting in the way, like track spikes in the wrong place and the spikes had to be removed

Hi Ted. Am not sure if we have the original plans, someone else can answer that question. We do have photographs.

I do know original Wiscasset  roundhouse had three tracks. When you stand on the turntable and look at the roundhouse the original roundhouse had the run thou track on the left hand track. The museum will build the new roundhouse with the run thou track on the right hand track. This track is in service at the present time, it runs from the North Yard.
