General Discussion / Hi, there! Long time, no see

Hell, since the last time I came around Alna, I've moved to Seattle, and now I'm a fireman on a 97 year old wood passenger steamship, the Virginia V.  We have a 115 year old triple expansion engine and oil fired boiler.

Volunteers / Might have a few days in August

Right now, I am waiting on the decision on whether or not I'll be going to get a job down in Texas.  If I do not get the job, I plan to purchase an Amtrak railpass and go explore the country.  If I do this, I'd like to put in a few days working on the WW&F.  The problem is how would I get there from Portland, and where could I stay that is extremely cheap (trying to do this on a budget)?

I do have museum experience, working for many years at the NC Maritime Museum's boat shop in Beaufort, NC.  However, this would be my first time working on the WW&F.

Volunteers / How can I help?

So, I can't get up there to do much work due to distance (I live in North Carolina).  However, I'd still like to help out.  I at the least can do CAD work, having been a draftsman for a civil engineering firm for quite some time.

So, an takers?
