General Discussion / Re: Amtrak to Wiscasset (and Rockland) in 2018?

This is indeed good news for the midcoast region! It will certainly create a need for a jitney service in the area.

WOW!! That sure is an improvement! I always wondered how nobody got hurt working on that ballast. This is great and so much safer! I have two bad knees and always had to be double careful on that old floor.
There is one other bad spot that I discovered a few years ago in going from bay 3 into the machine shop where there is an unexpected double step down. Not sure if it is still there or not! Bui I found it!
I really can't believe how much was accomplished this year. I guess we all have to be thankful for a dedicated and skilled volunteer work crew!

Be sure to include a couple of boatloads of Coolies to build enough track to hold all that new equipment. You might want to pass that by Donald Trump for his immigration OK!

How does the saying go?
Junk expands to fit the space available!
You guys are too much or too ambitious.
Things are looking good. The cement floor will be a welcome addition!

OK Dwight - thanks for pointing those out!

The turntable bridge looks like it belongs in a shipyard - or should come out of one!

That is an awesome piece of woodwork! Is there a photo of the center pivot available? before it gets covered up!

OK Mike - that makes me feel better! There does need to be a way to turn things around for wheel wear etc. I guess I'm just not that familiar with the ways of 2 footers!

I am confused. Is this not going to be a 360 degree turntable? Is there going to be loop track somewhere to turn the equipment? I never gave it much thought but I guess they had no way of turning equipment at Wiscassett or did they? A wye somewhere?

VINYL SIDING! HORROR OF HORRORS!!
Actually I have put vinyl on my house (ranch) and it looks good. It is faux shingles in gray. For the time being I would go with Mike's suggestion.

I don't wish to be disrespectful but the siding on Harry's house is beginning to look tired. Maybe something is being planned for the future which I am not privy to. When one compares it to the rest of the buildings on the property it looks out of place.

Looks like it needs a coat of paint - just like #9 needed a little boiler work!
Great addition! What else do they have that is surplus to their needs?
