Title: Bedford Depot Park Ribbon-Cutting
Post by: Glenn Christensen on August 05, 2009, 06:21:58 PM
Hi Folks,

I've just finished viewing a very well produced series of 4 YouTube clips covering the Ribbon Cutting ceremony, which occurred on July 27, 2009.  The hyperlink is:

The project has taken 14 years to reach its current state and required dedication, cooperation, and funding from a number of different groups and sources.  While every one of these parties and groups deserves appreciation and credit, I'd particularly like to single out our brothers in two foot gauge railway preservation, The Friends of Bedford Depot Park (FBDP).  They were in it every step of the way; from the original financial request to the Bedford board of selectmen; to the beautiful restorations of the original Billerica and Bedford engine house (later a B&M Freight House) and B&M Budd car #6211; to the on-going restoration of the original B&M depot; to the relaying of a portion of the two foot gauge B&B mainline on the old right of way.

FDBP has clearly written the book on how public/private partnerships and two foot preservation can complement one another.  Their good example is clealrly one worth emulating.
