Title: 32 pound rail

I was wondering about the joint bars found on the R O W for 32 pound rail. It seems like an odd size, was it the same height as 30 pound rail with a thicker web, or a larger head. I find no mention or it in any listing of standard rails. I know a lot of different sizes and profiles were made over the years and was wondering about the old WW&F rail.

The two footers were originally laid with very light rail to keep costs down. Whether it was 30 or 32 or even 28 or 25 pound is lost to me but parts of the line were upgraded with heavier rail, 56 to 60 pound at some point. I am sure that when upgrading they just tossed the old joint bars down, and the pair I found Saturday were close enough together to have been on the same joint.

What would a fully loaded WW&F freight car have weighed? How much do the current engines weigh?
