Good news everyone!
As you might have read on the MNG steam team work session reports, we have been given permission to use steam locomotive #4 on a limited basis for the remainder of the year. She had her first steam up 22 months on the 10th and ran back and forth on the engine house lead a few times before being put away.
#4 is tentatively scheduled (and subject to change without notice) to run the final 2 weekends of October (22/23 and 29/30) for shakedowns (for both engine and crew). #4 will also be the primary power for the Polar Express.
Again, I stress that this is subject to #4 not experiencing any issues in operation.

That awsome news Bill. :D Cant wait for the photos of her running again. :) :D

I know several of the people involved in the repairs to #4, and it is great news that the locomotive is operational once more.
They also are doing great work in restoring #7 after the fire. Congratulations to everyone responsible.
These are indeed bright spots in the overall two-foot picture.

Just a friendly reminder that we're running steam at MNG this weekend and next weekend. Feel free to come by and say hi, take some pictures, or even lend a hand in the shop for the work day we have planned on both Saturdays.
