Title: La Trochita - a beautiful 2 part video
Post by: Glenn Christensen on June 05, 2011, 06:35:04 PM
Hi,

La Trochita is known here as the "Old Patagonian Express" after the book by Paul Theroux.  It is a 750mm (about 30") gauge line that runs through the high deserts of Patagonia in Argentina.  Their Baldwin 2-8-2s were very closely based upon the design for SR&RL #23 and are exact in almost every dimension.  In its way, it is what the Maine Two footers might have looked like if they had run in the San Luis Valley of Colorado.''

The video is broken into 2 parts, is about 10 minutes long (in total) and available on You Tube.  Part One can be found here:

Once there look for the link to part two.  You won't be disappointed.

Best Regards,
Glenn
