Brian, The picnic is on Sat 8/9 and Sun 8/10. There will be some members at Sheepscot starting on Weds 8/6 doing maint and track work. Dana wants to have a full track work day on Friday so there will be a crew going out in the morning.
As to the picnic - there will be some new events. One is a special photo shoot at AC on Saturday afternoon with some new "props" if the equipment arrangements can be made.

Stewart.
That new event at A/C should be "AA" OK.

Just so you know, James set up the Track Work Day on Friday and I won't be there. James will be running the crew. I have to work. I'll be up on Saturday. Can't wait to see the new props!
-
What time will the track crew be meeting on Friday? Moe Mechling and I will be up Aug. 7 - 10.

Ira,
Are you hinting that a AA Ford truck will be on site?

Les Fossel will be staging his AA Ford Truck at Alna Center during the picnic , and also using it to take W&Q Shareholders to their annual meeting at the Alna Meetinghouse at 2pm Saturday.
Harry Percival owned a half share in this truck until Les bought him out.

Can people please post any pictures that they take of the Picnic on the forum please. I miss the museum verry much and not being able to be down there in such a long time is starting to suck.
I miss not seeing steam also. Cownay isn't running steam until Railfans weekend, which is a huge let down to me and a lot of others. Oh well.

We have a plan!
We are currently planning to run some photo extras both before and after the regular train schedule of the day Saturday, and before on Sunday. This leaves the middle of the day for straight up passenger trains to handle the crowd.
8:30 AM Sat & Sun. Photo freight extra for runbys at Alna Center and Humason Brook.
10:00 AM Sat. & Sun. Regular train run as mixed; runbys on request.
11:00 thru 3:00 Sat. Regular trains run as passenger, no runbys.
4:00 PM Sat. Regular train run as mixed (differrent from 10 trip), runbys on request.
5:00 PM Sat. Photo freight extra for staged scene at Alna Center.
Sunday, 11:00 on will be regualar passenger trips, no runbys, but as things die down we'll entertain requests. Last trip will be at 4.
Hope to see a lot of you!

Hi Folks, I plan to drive up from Scranton, PA to attend the picnic. I just got your July/Aug newsletter and it says the lunch is from 11 am to 2 pm. I haven't seen too much on the events over the weekend ... but I have seen pictures of your past picnics and am looking forward to a fun time.
I'll be coming up to visit and stay with some friends in Maine and I think I may drive over on Friday, Aug 8 to help with the track work ... although I'm a bit handicapped - going for knee surgery in September - I'm sure there will be something I can do ... even elsewhere ...??
Looking forward to meeting you all. :D

I'll seccond that request for pictures, although I'll TRY to make it up myself!
I ought to be able to make at least ONE of the two days, and I'll have my little-one with me... my CAMERA that is! Oh, and my daughter too...
that's IF I make it!
keep your fingers crossed for me... gas HAS come down a few cents!

Hi all -
I'll be making my first visit to the WW&F for this year's picnic, and I'll be bringing all my cameras. Hopefully I'll get there early enough Saturday to catch one of the photo runbys. If not, I'll make do with the regular trip photos.
I'll post as many as I can when I get back home.
-
Looks like I'm gonna have to get myself and my daughter up WICKED early on Sunday to get there by noon,...
and we'll stay for the photo ops in the evening! :D
Un les I get a "wild hair" and decide to try for Saturday ;)
Either way, either day,
come rain, snow sleet or "eating-ramen-till-next-payday!"
See ya'll there! :D

See the PDF file linked beneath this message for the official timetable for this weekend's events.

Hope I can make it. I would love to stage something on the new jigger track at the Trestle.

Hey Savery,
Stop by the archives department on Saturday if you get a chance.

Here is part of a staged shot we had on Saturday. I know the train is backing but I had to return to my post on the handcar before the return. I built this track back in April or early May just for this day. We all agreed it was perfect. By this time next year, I think I'll have another one built. Location yet undecided.

Mike, That set off looked great. The jigger is in the perfect spot, looks good as you approach it on the train.

Thanks Stewart. I am thinking of a spot to build another. I think it will have more than a trackside view. Could be a good surprise for next years picnic.
