Back to serious matters, now...

Work done on Saturday Oct 28:
* 10 boiler flanging: Jason and Alan started early and built up a new mold for the flanger, and got to work on more flanging.
* Flatcars: An early morning trip got the flatcars at the end of the line, and one of the cars was loaded with ties that Fred was cutting.  The other car was emptied of the stuff on it and later was used to get stone and rip-rap at Alna Center.
* Boxcar 67: Zack was sorting through the metal work and trying to figure out what he needed.  Most grabirons will need to be straightened.
* Tie inserter: Jay was working on the tie inserter (former backhoe).
* New toy: We all checked out the new forklift we got, to assist us with the bridge project.  That's all we'll be using it for.  ;D

Last day of train service for the year today, not counting Victorian Christmas December 16th & 23rd.  A frosty morning turned into a warm (for late October) afternoon.  I counted 24 ticketed passengers.

Do we own the forklift, or are we merely renting it?

Nevermind, I just saw Brendan's post. Nice acquisition.

Tie inserter should be named DW 10xx whatever the last two numbers are. :)

It will be our best interests to give the equipment, including the new fork lift, a coat of
Row-Mow Yellow.
This would keep us from looking like a junk yard and set us apart from other museums.

Ira,

I think the new Tie Changing Machine has already received a new coat of yellow paint.

I agree on the new fork lift.  Perhaps a steam cleaning and coat of paint on Casey would also be in order.

Not that our home team doesn't have lots of things on their plate and to keep them busy.

I would think that repainting the forklift would be item 25 on the top 5 list.
