May 2017 Work Planning
« on: May 03, 2017, 12:20:16 PM »
Anticipated work for Saturday May 6:

* Annual Meeting.  Annual meeting is in the Alna Meeting house.  I think the time is 2 PM but don't take my word for that.
* Boxcar 67
* Start of regular public train service.

1015 work will include painting the bottom of it, then flipping the car, trying to stay out of the paint. I have some welding to do once it is right side up, but will wait a week so the paint is dry.

Weekday Track Building!

We need to extend the woods track by about 120' to allow Monson 3 to get loaded onto a truck, allow the culverts to be loaded on flatcars, and ultimately have a track in front of the rail pile.

We are tentatively planning next Tuesday as the day, though it could extend to Wednesday and possibly the following week.

We'll take any help we can get those days, and encourage the effort to be continued as desired on other days (such as Saturday).

Let us know if you can make it!

See ya
Jason

And in regards to the track laying, I will be trenching the parking lot Saturday in preparation for this.

A Profuse Panorama of Photos ;D, perhaps snapped from the garage roof, could highlight the timely put-together of  WW&F's road-rail vehicle transfer site/handy construction materials storage/pickup "dump", and new storage container access.
Oh, it also abuts the main parking area for train riders, volunteer workers. :D
Go to it!

Work done on Saturday May 6:

* Boxcar 67: more painting, some lumber work.
* Equipment car 1015: The underside (facing upward) was painted yellow, then the car was flipped right side up and placed on blocks in anticipation of wheels.  Mike took a few pictures for Paul.
* Annual Meeting at 2 at the Alna Meeting House.  No drama.

Here is some pictures of the roll over project today.
Not as exciting as rolling the frame to a box car, but still took some rigging and blocking.

I did weld some while everone was at the annual meeting, finishing the storage box on the front. I did quite a bit of the frame, but had to keep putting out fires where there was excess paint, so I will finish that Saturday. And then more Paint.

Trackwork is still planned for this week, but not to the extent that was mentioned. Jason will advise when.

Tomorrow's planned track work will continue in a modified fashion.  We won't be building new track, as we want to put more time and planning into the "west yard facilities" design.  Instead, we need to prepare the existing woods track for use by Monson 3, which leaves in a couple of weeks.

Any help still appreciated!

Anticipated work for Saturday May 13:

* Boxcar 67
* Transporter 1015
* Last week, Fred talked about going up line to clean up fallen limbs from alongside the track.  Maybe we should do that this week.

Oh, and there's a board meeting Friday evening.
