I stumbled across a couple of French 60cm videos on Youtube from the Pithiviers  operation, taken back in the early 60's. The quality isn't so good, but I thought some of the equipment was pretty cool. They even have one of those arm-buster hand crank hand cars like the Sandy River!

That is neat, I have looked around for info on that operation since you posted it. Apparently there is a railroad museum in that town, some of what they have looks like meter gauge but I think most is 2ft:

Unfortunately I don't know French, but wow, looks like twelve 2ft. steamers, six in service.

Good ol' youtube has some videos of the museum operation, one of which I posted here a while back. I'm pretty sure the operating end of things is all 60cm. I'm guessing the original equipment may have been left over WW1 stuff. I think, like evidently a lot of 60cm lines in Europe, they were primarily built for transporting agricultural products. Sugar beets seem to be a staple of an awful lot of narrow lines "over there".

Looks like a classy operation!
