Missing posts
« on: October 18, 2014, 04:33:47 PM »
Wayne Laepple reported our website was down today and coming into the forum here, I noticed that most of this week's posts are missing.  I don't know if they are recoverable or not.

Ed - if you would look around to see if we can restore them from our admin panel.  I will contact our host and see if there's anything they can do.

Hopefully we'll have them back for you!

Our server had a failure last night, so they have built a new one and are in the middle of restoring right now.  I have a ticket in, but I suspect that once the restore is complete we'll have most all of our posts back.  Stay tuned!

In the meantime, it may not be a good idea to post anything for a while.  We'll keep you posted.

I had to reset my forum time. It was 4 hours ahead of actual time.

Testing, testing ...

When I saw the threadline I thought for a moment that our storage building posts were gone!  Seriously though, I have noted that some of the "view counts" were dialed back to yesterdays numbers.

Hi All,

Why does this sort of crud always happen when I'm away... but I digress.

I checked the forum control panel and there is no automatic backup/restore on the forum level. There was no manual backup done recently.

So, unless the ISP has a more recent backup than the one they used to restore the forum, any posts made between Oct 11 and yesterday have been lost. Also, anyone who joined the forum between Oct 11 and yesterday (and there were at least two) have also lost their accounts.

It's unfortunate, but there's not much that it appears that we can do.

Thanks,

-Ed

Ed, it's called Murphy's Law!

I guess if someone can't access the website or the forum, check our Twitter account https://twitter.com/WWFRailway and/or our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wiscasset-Waterville-and-Farmington-Railway-Museum/147279126870.  The FB page doesn't require you to be logged into Facebook, and I don't know about Twitter.

Well my lantern posts are gone. They still will be shipped to the museum though.
